NEW ART STUDIO
North Berkeley, CA
The Hopkins St. building replaces a ramshackle garage with an art studio including a half bath. The footprint is 12x24 (the garage was approx 10x20). The site includes a remarkable lively creek at the back and a cover of live oaks.
A storage shed adjoins the studio. To the right is a Rainwater HOG that captures water from the studio's gutters.
Custom-built louvre vents at opposite ends of the building help air circulation in the attic and comfort in the space below. The weather vane came from the old garage.
